Sandra Hughes, Publicity Officer. BROADLAND 222 AIR CADETS 222 Cadets go up North This October half-term, the cadets enjoyed an action packed week in Littondale, North Yorkshire Dales with activities such as skiing, mountain biking and the adrenaline assault course. Even the trip home involved a visit to the Ingleborough Cave. This activity week brought the cadets closer together, helping them develop the ability to lead and be independent away from home. A major team building undertaking was an eleven mile walk which the cadets ended in good spirits, despite rainy conditions. Cadets were asked to take turns navigating and to spot natural features. They were expertly guided over obstacles and shown how to cope with various hazards by a local guides. Cadet Toby Grime excelled himself throughout the course. Snowzone, near Leeds, was the venue for some indoor skiing and sledging on real snow and showed that we have a few naturals on the squadron! The fund raising the Squadron have been engaged in over the last year has certainly paid off. Broadland 222 Cadets are pleased to celebration the promotion of FLT SGT Middleditch to Cadet Warrant Officer. His dedication and commitment over the years has been rewarded by promotion to the highest rank available to cadets. Very few Cadet Warrant Officers exist currently in the region and even more so, the Wing, which covers Norfolk and Suffolk. As part of his duties, CWO Middleditch will be expected to command large groups of cadets at annual camps, sports events and special occasions. He is the key point of contact between the uniformed staff and cadets and visa versa as well a key player in planning social events also. Congratulations! In other news, Cadet SGT Ashley Barrell attended a drill instruction course enabling him to take command of increasingly larger groups of other cadets from other Squadrons.
