WROXHAM FOOTBALL CLUB This has been a very busy period for the club both on and off the field. The buzz around the club continues with all our teams getting good results in the last month. The 1st team has been regularly playing two games a week and are still the top Norfolk side in the league in 7th place. Despite a heavy defeat at Saffron Walden and a narrow loss against Brantham we have had good wins at Thetford and at home to Gorleston together with a double over Haverhill Borough. A draw at in form Stanway was also a decent result. In the League Cup a 3-nil win at Diss fully reflected the gap with our Div 1 opponents. Following a good win away to Norwich CBS (formerly Spixworth) we have a good chance of reaching the quarter final of the Norfolk Senior Cup as we were drawn away to Mundford from the Anglian Combination. In December we are at home to Kings Lynn Res on Tues 5th Dec ko 7-45 and on Sat 16th & 3th against Wivenhoe and Long Melford respectively both 3.00pm. Please come and support the lads The reserves went eight games undefeated before losing 1-2 at home to leaders Harleston who scored the winner in the last minute. Inevitably this was followed by a further defeat to Waveney but the team is still in 8th place which is probably better than we expected. The U18’s had been on a great run but then lost to Yarmouth 2-1 despite hitting the woodwork several times. They took their wroth out on Bungay in the next game by scoring 12 without reply. We are currently working on setting up a mini-soccer centre at Rackheath for u6’s & u8’s in the New Year. More news on this to follow. The Annual Fire Work Display & Bonfire was a great success although the display itself did not come up to expectation and we will need to review this for next year. Thanks to everyone who attended. The Quiz & Chips Evening run by Cynthia Feltham also went very well. We have a new Treasurer in Mark Davison whose previous roles included working with David McNally & Delia at Carrow Road, so hopefully our finances will be in good hands! We are still short of match day helpers and could do with with someone to assistant with some of the ground maintenance. Please contact Secretary Chris Green on 783936 or email
greenc@btinternet.com with any offers of help. In the New Year, there will be a consultation starting on the Greater Norwich Local plan. We will be following this closely together with the emerging Wroxham Neighbourhood Plan running in parallel. Both will involve views on where new housing development should be in Wroxham.
