THE PROBUS CLUB OF BROADLANDS The Probus Club of Broadlands is a fellowship club for men who are retired or semi-retired. We meet on the last Wednesday of every month between 12.15 and 15.00 at The Norfolk Mead Hotel, Coltishall for drinks, a two course chef cooked lunch and a guest speaker presentation on a variety of local and general interest subjects. We welcomed our speaker this month, Colin Howes from Able Community Care. Colin went on to give us a brief history of “care within the community”. Able Community Care are available to discuss the current needs of individuals to inform and help those people in retirement who prefer to stay in their own homes rather than enter a care home. After a round of some very pertinent questions we thanked Colin for his presentation and handed over a small cheque for Able Care, who are always available to provide information on the services they can provide. The Probus Club of Broadlands is always keen to welcome new members, or to hear from those who would like to know more. We look forward to meeting and greeting you at one of our future meetings. Contact Steve Robb on 01603 736597(President 2016-2018) Or Neil Searle-Jones on 01603 666159 (Club Secretary)

HOVETON & DISTRICT WI Our November meeting was that favourite of everyone; The AGM! Not many members remember what was said in November 2016, a lot has happened since then, however pitfalls were avoided and a new committee duly elected. The final meeting of 2017 will be on 6th December when we shall be entertained by Martyn Shults and enjoy tea and mince pies. Some of us will join members from other WIs in our Broadland Group for the carol party at Neatishead on 8th Dec. Our first meeting of 2018 will be on January 10th at 2pm when we shall enjoy an afternoon at the movies complete with popcorn and ice cream. Visitors and new members are always welcome, so give Sue our president a ring on 01603 783387 for more details or just come and find us at the Village Hall.
