Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) is a UK- wide programme that helps businesses to improve their performance through the better use of knowledge, technology and skills. KTP can help your business
to bring in new expertise to deliver a specific, strategic innovation project. Each project is a three-way partnership between a business, an academic or research organisation and a suitably qualified graduate. An additional £30m of
funding has just been allocated to KTP to align with the Government's Industrial Strategy. In practice, this means growing the number of projects initiated this year from 300 to 500. On average, businesses that
take part in KTPs gained £283,000 pre-tax profit per year, and typically received between £80,000 and £120,000 in funding. The University of
Nottingham provides world- leading knowledge and expertise which can be applied to your business challenges. We work with businesses of any type and size, from local micro-businesses to large multinationals. We offer support from early
stage, exploratory enquiries through to full proposal development and help with final reports. To date we have submitted over 100 proposals and have maintained a 100% success rate.

Growth-enabling grants available through Digital Growth Programme
When you are growing your business, there are always new challenges. From finding the right people to accessing the right type of finance, there will be times when SMEs will really want advice, support and grant funding. Last year, 35% of SMEs within
the East Midlands had no basic digital skills, with up to 54% not having a website and 67% of businesses not investing in digital skills. As part of the Chamber-led,
ERDF part-funded Digital Growth Programme, technology grants from £2,000 to £16,000 are available, subject to conditions. The aim of the technology grant
is to support businesses with utilising their existing technology solutions to full potential, or assist in the introduction of new systems and software to aid with the implementation of new digital resources, with the overall aim of improving business performance and productivity. For example, a consumer-facing
SMT could utilise the programme’s fully-funded strategic action-planning Growing Your Ecommerce Business workshop to access expert, specialist insight and knowledge before
applying for a grant to aid the development of an app to harness greater sales opportunities. All grants must be 60% match-
funded by the business. Are you eligible? If you would
like to apply for grant funding, applicants must as a minimum:
• Register with the programme – available via
bit.ly/DGP_Grants
• Be trading for at least 12 months at the time of application
• Be located within, or locating to Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham or Nottinghamshire (D2N2) or Leicester or Leicestershire (Leics)
• Employ fewer than 250 full time equivalent (FTE) employees and have either a turnover less than €50m or a balance sheet less than €43m at the time of full application
• Demonstrate the commercial viability of the project and how it will improve business performance and productivity
• Look to generate new, sustainable jobs based in the region
