NTU hailed as Modern University of the Year


Nottingham Trent University has been named Modern University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018. The award recognises NTU for its


strong student satisfaction, its quality of teaching, the overall student experience and its engagement with employers. The university has also moved up


into the top 50 of The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide’s overall league table, with a ranking of joint 47th. This caps a year of outstanding


achievements, following the university’s highest possible ‘gold’ rating in the Government’s Teaching Excellence Framework, and a satisfaction score of 89% in the National Student Satisfaction Survey. Professor Edward Peck, Vice-

Morningside in innovative win


Morningside Pharmaceuticals has won the Innovation in Generics Award at this year's Pharmacy Business Awards. The awards, held in London, hailed the achievements of community pharmacists across the UK and were attended by 900 guests including Steve Brine, the Minister with responsibility for pharmacy at the Department of Health, and hosted by Rory Bremner. The awards also gave recognition for the role of the pharmaceutical


industry and Morningside was recognised for its innovations in the generics market and in improving patient care. One of the fastest-growing pharmeceutical companies in the industry, Morningside makes niche medicines in a number of therapeutic areas. Over the past year it has launched 12 new niche products, some of which include novel technology towards slow-release formulations, bringing innovation and choice to both pharmacists and patients. Dr Nik Kotecha OBE, CEO of Morningside, was on hand to collect the award.

Samworth Brothers unveils investment


A new, high tech 155,000sq ft distribution hub for Samworth Brothers in Leicestershire has gone live. More than £12m has been


invested in the latest logistics and warehousing technologies at the Oak Meadow site, on Leicester Distribution Park, which will host 380 staff with capacity for future growth. Samworth Brothers Group


Executive Director, Ian Fletcher, said: “This new facility is an important milestone for Samworth Brothers. It gives us a new purpose-built supply chain home for the next 20 years or so in Leicestershire and has some important new capabilities that will help us develop the business further. “When we open, we will


have around 380 staff on site but there is significant room to grow over the next decade.”
