MEMBER NEWS Tackling physical fitness as a team

A Derby-based creative agency has taken team-building exercises to a whole new level — incorporating actual physical exercise. Koobr, which specialises in

graphic design, marketing, and brand development, is living up to its creative moniker, adding even more energy into employee wellbeing with the help of fitness and nutrition expert Michael Pearce. As part of Koobr’s ongoing

initiative to create a healthy and happy workplace, members of the team have also competed together in organised events including this year’s Derby Ramathon. Koobr’s Managing Director, Craig

Barker, said: “I’ve always made a point of looking after the wellbeing of my staff, and I believe it’s a responsibility all forward-thinking organisations should undertake. As well as reducing physical and mental illnesses like stress, anxiety and depression, corporate fitness also improves productivity and attentiveness. All in all, it’s important to any business. “We’ve definitely grown tighter

as a team. While everybody in the team will continue to train and eat

properly for their own personal reasons, it’s fair to say that we’ll continue training together and keep getting healthier as a group in order to support and motivate each other towards our collective goals and ambitions.”

Derby entrepreneur launches reviews app

A businessman hopes that his new mobile app will revolutionise the way that customers give reviews and comments on services they have used. Innovator Naseem Iqbal has designed the Mobytap app so that people can give their honest views about a service in a shop, restaurant, hotel or other business on a short video which can go viral. Naseem, from Alvaston, Derby,

has a background in waste removal and recycling, and for six years has been running his own business, Junkporters, in Nottingham. The app allows customers to

record a video up to 30 seconds long on their mobile phones, instead of typing, giving their comments or endorsements. Importantly, these are first checked to make sure that there are no rude or abusive words or actions. The app can be applied to any

trader who has an online presence. The reviews are uploaded live to social media networks by the businesses themselves so that potential customers can see them and make informed decisions. The concept is that people know

the reviews are authentic because those giving their comments by this method cannot hide behind anonymity. The app cost £60,000 to

develop, but is free to download. Naseem, whose Mobytap

business is based at The Ingenuity Centre at the University of Nottingham's Innovation Park, said: “Companies always want good reviews or to improve what they provide. This app and way of publishing comments online will help them up their game.” Last month alone the Mobytap

app was downloaded more than 1,500 times.

marketing team, took part in this year’s Cycle Derby Sportive bike challenge. He said: “Before we started

exercising, I never would have been able to find the endurance to

compete in something like this, my fitness levels just weren’t there. But now I’ve got more energy, I’m eating healthier and I generally feel better on the whole. I’m looking forward to competing again next year.”
