Gazelles takes the half marathon win

Four staff from chartered accountants Newby Castleman are celebrating after winning the prize for fastest women’s team in the Cummins Relay Challenge at the Leicester Half Marathon. The ‘Newby Castleman

Gazelles’ finished the race in a time of one hour and fifty minutes, with each team member running a distance of around three and a quarter miles. The firm, which has offices

in Leicester and Loughborough, paid the Gazelles’ entry fee, allowing them to focus on the task of raising as much sponsorship money as they could. They were competing

against teams from 35 other businesses and organisations in the annual challenge, ran along the Leicester Half Marathon route. The organisers set a target

of £10,000 for the Leicestershire and Rutland hospice and have surpassed this with nearly £13,000 raised to date.

Rothera Sharp hosts fundraiser for Age UK

Over 130 business owners and professional services gathered for Rothera Sharp’s BBQ ‘Meat-Up’ and fundraiser recently, with the evening raising a substantial amount for Age UK. The event, which took place at St

Mary’s Church, in the Lace Market, Nottingham, was held in conjunction with the firm’s chosen charity, Age UK Notts, to celebrate its 75th anniversary. Attendees were also invited to

take part in a raffle to raise additional funds for Age UK Notts. The event also provided the ideal

opportunity to launch Age UK’s Trees of Life project, which is being supported by Rothera Sharp, and was announced by Age UK Notts Fundraising Director Maggie Ross, Patrick Candler, of Sherwood Forest Trust, and Mich Stevenson, Chairman of Spenbeck and Deputy Chairman of Nottingham Regeneration. Awareness raised for working with Autism

Autism East Midlands has launched its Working with Autism networking event, supported by fellow Chamber members Rolls- Royce and Notts County Football Club. This interactive networking event

Derbyshire City Council, Geldards, Smith Cooper and Unite. It focused on what can be done
