AWESOME AUTHOR VISITS ... It is widely recognised that there is nothing quite like a school author visit to encourage children to read, write and understand the creative process. Here at Sibford we are delighted that our parent association, PSFA, recognises the importance of such visits and provides funds so that we can enjoy a regular programme of author talks. This academic year literary visitors have included Katherine Woodfine, author of ‘The Sinclair’s Mystery’ series; ‘Young Bond’ author Stephen Cole; and Christian O’Connell, who spoke about his debut kid’s book ‘Radio Boy’.
DRAMAS PUT SPOTLIGHT ON THOSE WHO STOOD UP FOR THEIR BELIEFS
Pupils were treated to two dramatic productions focusing on individuals who stuck up for their principles. The Journeyman Theatre Company presented ‘Lover of Souls’, the story of Elizabeth Hooton, the first female Quaker missionary and an
DRUMMING UP SUPPORT ... Phil Selway, drummer with rock band Radiohead, called into school in October to present a cheque for £8,632 to the charity SeeSaw which provides grief support for children and young people in Oxfordshire. The money was raised at Sibford’s annual charity ball and auction, where one of the top lots was a special deluxe editon of Radiohead’s latest album ‘A Moon Shaped Pool’.
