August 2017 saw Sixth Form student Kate winning gold in the 200m Butterfly at the England National Swimming Championships. The 18-year-old also took bronze in the 50m fly and came fifth in the 100m fly at the championships which took place at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield. Kate was swimming in the Open Age category for competitors aged 17 and over.

PE teacher Claire Ferley said: “It was a

remarkable achievement given that Kate also had A Level exams to prepare for and take throughout the training period.” • In further good news, Kate gained an A* in her PE A Level and a B in Biology and is now at Loughborough University where she will further develop her swimming career.

RFU’s South West Junior Academy programme. The 15-year-old, was picked

Amy’s mum Emma said: “This is the next step up from playing County Rugby and offers the chance for Amy to become involved in divisional rugby.”

Marathon Kids 2017 saw three of our Junior School pupils ~ Oscar (Year 4) and Maddie and Bea (Year 6) ~ running a full marathon! But they did take weeks to complete it. Sibford signed up to the Marathon Kids programme which encourages pupils to run the distrance in sections. Junior School Head Edward Rossiter said: “The children engaged positively with the challenge and were eager to reach the whole 26 mile distance.”
