Skiing in Austria
The ski trip was a great experience.
We had an excellent time skiing down mountains and watching each other fall over! It was
great that we always had an activity of some sort to do in the afternoon. The trip also made you feel quite independent.

39 students from Year 5 to Year 13 embarked on the 2017 ski trip to Austria, writes Derek Bottomley (Head of Maths and Ski Trip organiser).

This was the first time that we had combined the Junior and Senior trips and consequently we had the large range of pupil ages. However, it immediately became
apparent that age was not a barrier to making friends and pupils began mixing with other year groups from the moment they boarded the bus. Over the next nine days of sun
and fresh snow, 12 pupils learnt to ski for the first time ... eventually succeeding in skiing down from the very top of the highest mountain. Others, meanwhile, honed their

t the beginning of the Easter holidays,
skills and variously practised their turns, carving and even a few jumps. In addition to the 30 hours of skiing logged, the pupils also went swimming, took part in a variety of fun Easter activities and also attended a spectacular firework, light and ski jump show. It was a great week with the pupils behaving well, learning some independence and having a lot of fun.
The 2018 Ski Trip will be to Bormio in Italy
