Musical collaboration strikes

the right chord

Quaker choristers sang their hearts out in March and raised more than £880 for an Oxfordshire homeless charity. The 2017 Friends Schools Joint Choir Festival was hosted by

Sibford and took place at St Mary’s Church in Banbury. Our own choristers were joined by pupils from sister Quaker Schools ~ Ackworth near Pontefract, Walden School in Saffron Walden and Friends’ School in Lisburn ~ to form a joint choir of more than 100 young voices. Highlight of the festival was the combined choir performance of Fauré’s Requiem. Each choir also performed their own piece. Entrance to the festival was free … with charity funds being raised through a retiring collection. Toby Spence said: “It was a fantastic evening. The combined choir sounded absolutely brilliant and I am delighted that we were able to raise so much money for the Banbury Young Homelessness Project.” Pictured from top: The combined choir directed by Sibford’s Head of Music Fiona Hudson; Friends School, Lisburn; the Walden choir; Ackworth choir and (below) Sibford’s choir.
