he last week of the summer term 2017 saw pupils in Year 9 learning slapstick routines; seeing first hand evidence of the true horror and tragedy of WWI; and creating junk models inside a tiger enclosure and monkey house … thankfully the animals were safely locked in their indoor quarters at the time! A normal week at Sibford School? Not quite! But it wasn’t too unusual for


this particular time of year when pupils are encouraged to ‘live adventurously’ and take part in Curriculum Enrichment Week. During CEW, all pupils (apart from those in


Years 11 and 13 who have just completed their exams) are taken off the normal timetable and given the opportunity to try an activity that is new, exciting and perhaps something that they would not normally undertake. In 2017 Year 7 pupils headed off to


Okehampton in the foothills of Dartmoor National Park for an activity holiday at the Manor House & Ashbury Hotel where attractions included a climbing wall, skating, adventure golf, sports and much much more. Year 8 travelled to Norfolk where they picked up six boats from the Herbert Woods Boatyard and set off to enjoy a week sailing on the Broads. Year 10 journeyed to Hengistbury Head Outdoor Education in Dorset to experience a week of watersports activities; and Year 12 enjoyed two days taking in some of the tourist sites of London, followed by time spent looking
