Broadstone Family Fun Day: Sunday 1st July 2018
Now that the summer has passed, the Fun Day Committee has had a chance to refl ect on this year’s event, and think about some of the other community events and fetes that we have visited.
We are always looking to improve and we have seen some great acts but we are committed to keeping Broadstone Family Fun Day a free entry event, so this does limit our ability to bring in some of the bigger arena attractions. We are also keen to keep this a family focused event and NOT to include a beer, pimms or prosecco tent – although we welcome people bringing alcohol with their picnics – for a number of reasons, including the extra marshalls and volunteers we would need, extra costs, litter and security.
The cost of the event already tops £2,500 and we are grateful to this year’s sponsors – especially the headline sponsor, McCarthy & Stone – who have enabled us to return a surplus that we can re-invest in the Fields in Trust sites in Broadstone. We are keen to secure sponsors for 2018 with a range of packages from £75 up to £1,500, so if you know a
business that would like to work with us to put on Broadstone’s No.1 day out, please email me.
Many of the stalls and organisations have already booked for next year, along with some of our arena acts. We are, however, keen to hear from groups that would like to showcase in our arena – and with over 2,500 visitors, it’s a great way to attract new participants and customers.
Finally, a reminder that we are all volunteers. The committee give up many, many hours for over eight months to ensure the Fun Day is a success and we need your help. Two or three new committee members to spread the load, and dozens of people willing to give up an hour or two on the day. Save the date now – Sunday 1st July 2018 – and drop me a note to volunteer your time!
