Volunteer At Broadstone Youth Club
The summer holidays are now a distant memory, and the new term is well under way for the young people of Broadstone who are enjoying their time at Broadstone Youth Club.
We have said goodbye to some of our volunteers, who have moved on as exams loom and family commitments increase and we look forward to welcoming back a couple of people following a period of ill-health. Volunteering with young people is incredibly rewarding – where else do you get to spend the evening chatting over haribo and hot chocolate, joining in ‘team ping-pong’ or coming up with crazy 8 o’clock challenges?
I am delighted to welcome new volunteers Linda, Tracy, Ian and Olli, but in order to deliver sessions to another group of children – we are hoping to expand to Year 7 sometime during this school year – we need more people of all ages to get involved. Often people say “its only a couple of hours” and then you end up roped into all sorts of extras, planning, etc, but I can genuinely say give me two hours once a week during term time and I wont ask for any more.
Just a reminder that Broadstone Youth Club is open to all young people who live in the local area.
There is no membership fee, just a weekly subs of £1 with our Year 9 session on Wednesdays from 7.15-9pm and Year 8 session on Thursdays from 7.15-8.45pm.
