Springdale School News Beach Safety Lesson
The term is now well under way with the children settled into their learning.
Our Year 1 children were very excited by the supposed landing of a space ship and the arrival of two aliens, Blib and Blob! The children will be teaching Blib and Blob how to behave and will be having lots of learning adventures with them.
Trips to Stonehenge, Brownsea Island and Poole Harbour have got the year off to an exciting start, with learning being made very real and hands on. Encouraging children to appreciate the beauty and variety of the world around them is very important as is being in awe of monuments such as Stonehenge.
Celebrating harvest in conjunction with the Methodist Church in Broadstome has allowed the children to consider how fortunate they are and to think about others who have very different experiences. Bringing in harvest gifts of non-perishable goods for the Poole foodbank makes us all realise that there are many local issues that we can all help with.
Save the date: Springdale Christmas Fair will be held on Wednesday 6th December, from 4.30-6pm. Do come along and join in the seasonal fun!

As many of the
children at Broadstone Christian Nursery spent their days at the beach over the summer, we invited an
RNLI Education Offi cer, Jacqui, into the nursery to promote beach and sun safety.
We learnt all about the different types of fl ags and their meanings:
• Red & yellow stripe = swimming area with lifeguards on duty • Red = no swimming • Black & white checks = area used by surfers only
Then we identifi ed hazards we could see on a beach poster. Jacqui told us all about the different occupations at the RNLI, such as mechanics and crew members, and afterwards the children had the opportunity to dress up in a variety of RNLI clothing. It was great fun and we learnt a lot too.
