Melissa stars in Newcastle: Having set a new Welsh National record for 3000m in Watford on 6th September, Melissa C won the Womens’ Invitation Mile race on the streets of Newcastle. It was part of the Great North City Games shown on the BBC. Her time was a PB and helps towards her target of selection (for Wales) for the 21st Commonwealth Games in April 2018 on the Gold Coast, Australia.
Lindsay in the Invictus Games: Poole AC para- biker Lindsay C is due to participate for GB in the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada. She has been entered for the 100m, 200m, and 1500m – a demanding schedule! She has worked hard in preparation and we hope she enjoys a successful experience.
South-West League result: The PAC u17 Men were the stars of a third-place fi nish in the fi nal match in Exeter in September. Victories for Tom C (100/200), Ben L (3000), Adam B (400
Hurdles), and the sprint relay
team were the outstanding performances – but these were ably and enthusiastically supported by all the other PAC athletes on a seven-hour day of appalling weather. The fi nal ranking for Poole AC was 4th of the 11 clubs. For us it shows a transition period and the future need for full commitment from all age-groups for all four matches. Team Dorset Composite team in 2018: As a result of consultation between the constituent clubs (Dorchester, Poole and Wimborne), an application has been sent to UKA to re-register Team Dorset for the 2018 season. This will enable the offering of superior competition to age-groups of athletes from u13 to Senior for another season.
Into winter: PAC administrators and coaches have been busy confi rming arrangements for their winter activities, making sure we continue to offer our athletes competitive opportunities!
