Catching Up With Amber Marshall At The 2012 Royal Winter Fair

By Kelly Bowers

This year at The Royal Fair, I had the chance to catch up with the beautiful Canadian actress, Amber Marshall. I took the opportunity to ask the star of the hit series “Heartland” a few questions about what’s new in her life. First of all, she has a new magazine coming out for the new year called “Amber Marshall, Life & Style” Magazine, and of course her beautiful Amber Marshall Calendar is out for 2013.

their time off and are happy grazing in the fields. Once the weather changes, they know it’s time to get back in shape!

Kelly: We are thrilled you came home to co-host the Royal Winter Fair rodeo again this year. Having grown up in London ON, do you have childhood memories of the Royal Fair?

Kelly: Amber, what can fans expect from your new magazine?

Amber: I wanted to create something refreshing, something wholesome and something that my fans would be inspired by. I wanted to be able to share some insight into my life and how to help balance a busy schedule while still making time to do the things you love. All of the ads that are in my magazine are products that I support and believe in. Since I am often asked many ques- tions by fans about my life and style, I thought what better way to share than in my own maga- zine. In 2013 we will have two issues, and jump up to four issues in the following year. The maga- zine and other fun things like my yearly calendar can all be purchased on my website: www.amber- marshall.com and will also be sold in select stores in Canada.

This June, fans were excited to learn that Amber had become engaged to be married to her long time boyfriend, who just happens to be from Ontario - so I had to ask her about that.

Kelly: Congratulations on your engagement to Shawn Turner. How exciting! What can you tell us about Shawn and your plans for the wedding?

Amber: Yes, Shawn and I are very excited to be having the wedding at our Ranch in Alberta next summer. I have been so busy with Heartland wrapping up, as well as the première issue of my magazine, we have not worked out any details beyond that. I plan to dedicate ample time during the winter break for planning.

Kelly: So, how is your roping coming along or is there something else you are working on now?

Amber: From the months of May-December, while Heartland is filming, I barely get a chance to ride my own horses. Since we work 65-70 hours a week, it really does not leave much time for play. I was able to get up riding in the moun- tains a couple of times this year, but not nearly as much as I would have liked. I have not roped or even had a formal ride/training session since last winter. My horses seem to know that summer is

Amber: I love coming to the Royal. Each year I am a part of the fair it reminds me of my child- hood when I looked forward to driving up from London, or as I got older taking the train with some of my ‘horsey friends.’ I find that each time I co-host the Rodeo it gets a little easier, and I know what to expect. The weekend itself is always a whirlwind, as I usually have to work
