I hope everyone has a wonderful day with friends and family. It has been a pretty tough year for the horse indus- try in Ontario. From the announcement about the Slots at Racetracks program ending, to the army worm troubles dur- ing first cut of hay and then the drought for second cut. There are a lot of horse owners strug- gling to keep their horses healthy and happy. If you are fortunate enough to have

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas everyone!

husband thinks that’s because Major, my gelding, kind of looks like a donkey! I think it’s just because Cooper loves animals and thinks they’re cute. There is a Donkey Sanc- tuary in the Guelph / Puslinch area that we are going to sup- port this year for Cooper. For a minimum $50 we can spon- sor a donkey or mule. They also have open houses through the summer and during the four Sundays in December. Our plan is to visit the sanctu- ary in December and sponsor a donkey so that on Christmas morning he will open up a photo of his donkey and know that he helped to feed him. He may be young to completely understand the concept, but he’ll think it’s pretty cool to help feed a donkey. If you would like to see what the sanctuary is all about, you can find them online at the- donkeysanctuary.ca. Another charity that I know of is Wind Dancer Pony Rescue. The Wind Dancer Pony Rescue Foundation was established in March of 2011, dedicated to the memory of Isabel Dupuy, a talented young horsewoman. Isabel was wise beyond her years and was determined to one day establish a pony rescue on her farm. She died at only eleven years of age but left a strong legacy in her dreams and determina- tion to help ponies and to make the world a bet- ter place.
