Quietly growing its reputation as a gateway to offshore and renewable energy, Port of Sunderland is once again making waves as an economic driving force for its city and the wider North East England region. With business booming, and a commitment from leaders in the city to ensure that the port establishes itself as a prosperous, progressive and burgeoning waterfront, Sunderland appears to be on the brink of creating something special.


IDEAL LOCATION Positioned at the heart of the North East coast, lying centrally between the Tyne and the Tees, Port of Sunderland is, it seems, ideally located to take advantage of the growing move towards wind energy. The port is geographically well placed to realise the significant benefits from offshore wind energy in the future, and with work scheduled to begin on the development of the North Sea Dogger Bank offshore wind farm and others in both Round Two and Three, this will pave the way for an economic uplift at ports across the North East of England and especially in Sunderland.
