WHO ARE YOU? Keith Brooks, Managing Director, Prowind (UK) Ltd


WHAT BROUGHT YOU INTO THE INDUSTRY/YOUR POSITION? I am a qualified engineer and studied accountancy/business admin and had been a wind planning consultant for 15 years when I was offered my dream job by Johannes Busmann (MD of Prowind GmbH)


FAMILY STATUS? Very happily married (25th anniversary in 2 weeks), 3 children


WHO IS YOUR HERO AND WHY? I have two heroes, My father for teaching me the correct paths in life and my younger brother who has brain damage and cerebral palsy, who taught me never to take anything for granted


WHAT ANNOYS YOU THE MOST? People who do not understand reasons why our work is so important


WHAT WAS YOUR WORST HOLIDAY AND WHY? A whole week at Butlins with a five day migrane listening to party songs


WHO WOULD YOU NOT LIKE TO BE? Anybody famous, I do not like spotlights


WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU HAVE EVER BEEN GIVEN? Never be afraid to walk away from bad business


WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SMELL? Sounds crazy but its coal tar soap, my father was a miner and it’s the first smell I can remember as it meant he had come home safe


WHAT DO YOU DO IN YOUR SPARE TIME? I have been a volunteer at a day care centre for the last 12 years and help out with mentally ill children, my wife and I started a charity a few years ago to help people with mental illness and working with them puts life in focus


WHAT SPORT DO YOU PARTICIPATE IN/WATCH THE MOST? I like to play snooker when I can and I follow motorcycle racing (ex-biker)


WHAT IS THE MOST BIZARRE SITUATION YOU HAVE FOUND YOURSELF IN AND HOW DID YOU DEAL WITH IT? Being given half a days notice to travel to Leeds and give a talk on wind energy to Gaz DeFrance at their annual conference, no notes or preparation, and somehow managed to be classed as the best speaker of the night – bizarre!


WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE RECORD/ CD/ARTIST/MUSIC? Favourite record has to be Pink Floyd’s The Wall, favourite artist – Seasick Steve – Favourite music – classic rock


WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE TO SPEND A ROMANTIC EVENING WITH OTHER THAN YOUR CURRENT PARTNER? I was lucky enough to meet my wife when I was 17 and to have a romantic meal with anyone else would be a betrayal so I think I`ll pass


IF MONEY WAS NOT A FACTOR WHAT WOULD YOU BUY TOMORROW? A motor vehicle workshop equipped with all the tools needed to restore classic cars where I would head a team of mechanics teaching disabled people new skills and for them to be able to prove they do have a role in society


WHAT 3 WORDS WOULD BEST DESCRIBE YOU? Honest, Respectful, Careful


WHAT TALENT WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE? The skill to make people understand that life is all about family/people and not bank accounts


WHAT MAKES YOU ANGRY? When an application is delayed by something extremely petty which is not a material planning condition and just there so the planning officer looks good


WHAT LAW/LEGISLATION WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE INTRODUCED? A law which determined that turbines were in the national need so that they could have far less planning restrictions


WHAT PROMINENT PERSON WOULD YOU LIKE TO MEET? Ed Davey MP, to try and persuade him to back our industry


WHAT BOOK ARE YOU READING AT PRESENT? Guidelines for Visual Assessments 3 – I relax by reading books pertinent to developing the business – boring but true


WHAT CAR DO YOU DRIVE? A ten year old Ford Mondeo


WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE 10 YEARS FROM NOW? Still with Prowind as I seriously appreciate the trust that has been placed in me, I want to create and oversee a portfolio of renewable energy developments and to be more involved with community work.
