SPOTLIGHT ON HARWICH

ANGLO DUTCH TRADE WARS NO LONGER, BUT COLLABORATION!

East Anglia celebrates, on the 28th May 2012 , the 340th anniversary of the Battle of Sole Bay. It will be commemorated by Adnams, the local brewers, with its new spirit of Broadside.

Birketts LLP solicitors, based in Ipswich, Norwich, Chelmsford and Cambridge look forward to enjoying a drink with their colleagues and clients in the Netherlands shipping and offshore industry.

JUST ACROSS THE WATER East Anglia is the nearest part of the UK to continental Europe, yet it is often seen as the end of the road and rail system in the UK.

Harwich and its shipping links with the Dutch ports over the past three centuries, and with Haven Gateway helping to promote its facilities, is well placed to contribute to the expansion of East Anglia as the UK’s premier energy region.

BIRKETTS AND EEEGR

Through its network of offices Birketts provides services to the Energy Industry, particularly the offshore supply chain, working with EEEGR (Andrew Wood, a consultant with Birketts LLP is company

ANGLO DUTCH OFFSHORE WIND ENERGY CONFERENCE Harwich’s connections with the Netherlands helped it play an important role at the Anglo Dutch Offshore Wind Energy Conference in January 2011 in Cambridge.

SPECIALIST AND COMMITTED Birketts has a well established shipping team, providing a real local alternative to London firms, based in its Ipswich office. The three partners in the team, originally from London firms, have chosen to live in East Anglia, to be closer to their families and the sea.

SEEING CLEARLY

As Alex Davey, a partner in the shipping, transport and logistics team at Birketts LLP said, the attraction for him was that “on the eight day, God created the East Coast and then shrouded it in mist, so that no-one could find it!”

Birketts seek to dispel the mist and clear the fog of international trade. It has recently set up an international trade group based on its experience with its shipping team, bringing together its Anglo Dutch practice based on the work of Andrew Wood in Norwich, as well as the work of the Chelmsford office and its international work through IAG and the energy team working to offer a comprehensive service to companies in the energy supply chain.
