Openings

Sparrow Terry Blake and Yohini Nandakumar have opened their first restaurant, Sparrow, in Lewisham, south-east London. The husband and wife team first met while working at St John in Smithfield Market in Clerkenwell in north London, and their first site offers a regularly changing menu of sharing plates. The restaurant has been named to

reflect its food: not specific to a place or country and borrowing flavours from around the world, although there is a focus on seasonal British produce and European cooking techniques. Sparrow aims to be a relaxed, light and

airy space. An open kitchen, clad in emerald V&A tiles and with wooden worktops, takes centre stage, and simple antique tables and chairs and industrial light fittings suggest an informal elegance.
