SPEEDY MOBILE SERVICE


INSTALLATION A prompt response from BemroseBooth Mobile to a Rochford District Council request for a phone and pay service at a new site in Rochford, Essex highlights the cashless parking provider’s approach to its customer service, The new phone and pay site is available at an existing car park, which the borough had sought to improve before introducing the mobile payment option.


ELITE PARKING AT STIRLING UNIVERSITY


A new solar-powered pay and display parking installation, using Metric Elites to cover 1,700 spaces in 16 surface car parks, is up and running at the University of Stirling.


A need to improve and streamline car parking administration management and enforcement, combined with the age and poor condition of existing barrier equipment, drove a university decision to commission a report on car parking with recommendations and a travel plan.


A number of payment options for staff and students now includes a £130-per- year permit, or a discounted ‘pay as you go’ permit. With charging operating between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, during


academic semesters, the public parking tariff varies from 50p to £3 per day.


Of the 21 Elite machines, nine have debit/ credit card functionality and the remainder are cash only. One machine is installed in a car park serving the medical centre, where parking is free with a token. The University of Stirling’s system includes Metric’s web-based Aslan Back Office, as well as a tariff editor. Tony Kopsch, head of facilities at the university, said: ‘While it’s still early days, the introduction of the Metric Elites has been relatively problem-free, and has enabled the university to provide car park users with more flexible methods of paying for car parking.’


METRIC PRODUCES GOOD RESULTS IN SCOTLAND

enforcement, were the drivers for the University’s decision to review its car parking and commission a consultancy to produce a report together with recommendations and a travel plan. Staff, students and members of the public now have a number of payment options including a £130 per year permit or a discounted ‘pay as you go’ permit.


Joanne Crawford, parking manager for Rochford District Council said: ‘Substantial works have recently been undertaken at the car park to improve it, and the car park now has a new surface and increased capacity.’ New charges range from one-hour to all-day parking, and motorists in the area benefit from free parking on bank holidays and weekends, resulting in a flexible, user-friendly service for all. BemroseBooth Mobile sales director Nick Kibel said: ‘Our quick turnaround shows how efficient our customer service is and how dedicated we are to meeting our client’s demands, as and when they require. Rochford’s decision to roll out further phone and pay sites illustrates how well the service is running in the Essex borough, which could lead to more sites offering the service in the future.’
