ORCHARDS CAR PARK PROVES FRUITFUL
The Orchards Shopping Centre in Dartford has held an award for its parking facilities for 18 years, and has once again retained its Safer Parking accreditation, following its recent reassessment.

Bassetlaw District Council has been granted the Park Mark award for 17 of its car parks. The Park Mark scheme’s BPA area manager, Michael Gardner, said ‘We are delighted that these 17 car parks have achieved the required standards as it means that they are now delivering safer parking for the car parks’ visitors.
‘Bassetlaw District Council has been
working closely with us to achieve the standards required. This award is testament to their hard work and commitment in that respect.’
Bassetlaw District Council has put in place measures that help to deter criminal activity and anti-social behaviour, thereby doing everything they can to prevent crime and reduce the fear of crime.

The award, in one guise or another, has been held since February 1995, and over this time any issues have always been kept to the absolute minimum. Over the past 12 months, with an annual vehicle throughput of some 180,000 vehicles, no relevant crime related incidents had been recorded by police. The parking facility has recently undergone considerable improvements concerning the lighting, resurfacing, relining and general painting which has greatly improved the overall appearance, resulting in this being a safe environment for shoppers and theatre-goers alike.
