Twenty-five candidates have been successfully
placed into employment, including 10 ex-offenders
employer and job role being offered. From the employer’s perspective, this means that candidates who are then offered for interview are both more job-ready and better informed. From the candidate’s perspective, they know they are being trained so they are able to successfully do a specific job and so the training becomes more meaningful.
Route to employment The social enterprise project is part of our Routes to Employment programme, which has been running since May 2012. Already 25 candidates have been successfully placed into employment, including 10 ex- offenders, who have been thoroughly vetted and trained. Training is funded through either the government’s work programme or the Skills Funding Agency, and has been tailored to suit the vacancies offered. This has included job-specific health and safety training for industrial cleaners on the transport system in London, and site training for operatives working on the post-games clear up in the Olympic village. A wide range of jobs have been offered through the project, including graffiti removal, transport cleaning, construction site cleaning and facilities services.
