PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE
NEW YEAR, NEW membership
Calling all parking professionals. Join us and advance your career in 2013
T
his year brings new, exciting developments for our parking professionals. The BPA has launched a new type of membership that speaks directly to you, the individual. We know you are a conscientious and hard-working member of the parking profession. We also know that organisations wouldn’t succeed without you and your dedication. So why not join the UK’s largest network of parking professionals and gain national recognition for your commitment to professionalism in the parking profession? There are now two main membership categories to the BPA – corporate members (companies or organisations) and individual members (previously known as IPP members). You may be reading this copy of Parking News because you are employed by an organisation that is a corporate member of the BPA, and therefore receives a copy of the monthly magazine.
Have you ever considered what the BPA could do for you as an individual? Becoming an individual member gives a different set of benefits to those of a corporate member – benefits that are specifically tailored to you as a person, rather than the company you work for. As an individual member of the BPA, you will not only enjoy the status of being associated with a recognised and respected association, known for its knowledge and commitment to raising standards in the profession, but you will also gain recognition of your personal commitment to professionalism in the sector. Through fortnightly e-zines (e-newsletters), exclusive access to tips, advice and resources

Following the member consultation last summer, work is currently under way to create a new governance structure for the BPA that gives individual members a clear voice in the governance structure. Last September, the BPA Council endorsed the new structure, which will see the introduction of electoral colleges, one of which will be for individual members. It is anticipated that this will come into effect in July 2014.
