A Day in the life of...
For me life does not include time zones. Working with all the Formica Group Divisions from New Zealand to Australia, then Asia, Europe and North America, my days run into each other, as do my nights.
I am based out of Cincinnati, USA, where the North American HQ is located. However, I love waking up early at my home in Lake Michigan in the house my husband and I designed and built. It's our "All Formica® House" made with both exterior and interior Formica® products. I love my job and stand by the materials that we manufacture so it's not surprising I would incorporate it into my everyday life.
My typical day is anything but, I'm often travelling to a show to check out new designs or have meetings with clients. Today, come along with me on one of my

This week I went to Neocon, a major commercial design exhibit in Chicago. My

This year Neocon was packed with architects and designers walking the showrooms of all the major furniture companies. I met up with the designers at Knoll and Herman Miller to catch up and discuss trends, talk colour and find out what they are seeing for the future beyond what they are exhibiting at the show. My North American design staff were also walking around the show, all of us capturing inspiration details with iPhones and cameras to send back and forth as we walked the show separately. time in Chicago started at dinner the night before with the designer from SOM who did the Burq Dubai interiors. The following morning began at 5am to catch up on emails that came in overnight. Next it was off on a quest for the best cappuccino I can find before hitting the exhibition floor as it opened at 9am. I was studying architecture in Rome when my love of good coffee began; now when I'm travelling to the UK I always look out for good coffee.
