Group with a ’60s sound

Garotas Suecas are just children, a few barely out of their teens. But they could be mistaken for children of the ’60s. The Brazilian sextet’s sound is firmly rooted in the psychedelia of that decade, both the American and Brazilian versions. The ragged, hip-shaking grooves of American garage rock — think Chocolate Watch Band and Strawberry Alarm Clock — serve as the template for most of the songs, which likely work even better with swirling projections behind them. Hints of the group’s native tropicalia are also present but don’t bubble to the surface often; those rhythms are more intrinsic than anything. The music is all delivered with an infectious enthusiasm, the kind that isn’t beholden to any era. // 9 p.m. Sunday. U Street Music Hall, 1115 U St. NW. 202-588-1880. www.ustreetmusichall.com. $10.

The paintings of Giuseppe Arcimboldo, games of visual trickery that render human heads and faces out of the materials of still life, have delighted viewers for centuries. Even visitors who have never heard his name will have an “aha” moment: The conceit behind the works in “Arcimboldo, 1526– 1593: Nature and Fantasy” has been pursued through the ages in surrealist paintings and advertising images. // Sunday through Jan. 9.
