The story of Nelson, a commitment-phobic forty-year-old who becomes a doula for expectant fathers.
BIO
Laura Somers received her BFA at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and completed the
Professional Program for Screenwriting at UCLA. In 2008, Somers was commissioned by UCLA Medical
Center to create Finding P.E.A.C.E., an educational fi lm for cancer patients undergoing esophageal surgery. It
is currently being screened at medical conferences and in the homes of patients nationwide.
Somers also worked as a Co-Artistic Director of the critically acclaimed, award-winning theater company the
dirigo group in Austin, Texas. Having directed approximately 40 plays and fi lms to date, Somers' productions
have been declared by American Theater Magazine as "hot and hip.” The Austin Chronicle calls her “a
director to watch."
Somers latest fi lm, Las Perdidas (The Lost Ones) is a giddy farce about three women whose car breaks
down in the desert and fi nd themselves the potential victims of a possible serial killer who comes to their
rescue. She is also currently in post-production on Love 10:1, a romantic comedy feature directed and
written by three women (Somers being the third). Most recently, she directed four episodes of the web
series, The World of Cory and Sid for Hardly Working Entertainment.
