A true-story romance of two women, one of whom used to be a biological male.
BIO
Born in Houston, Texas and raised in Hiroshima, Japan, Mako Kamitsuna earned a BA in Philosophy from
Columbia University and attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts Graduate Film MFA program.
Kamitsuna is a prolifi c editor with credits that include Brooklyn Lobster (starring Danny Aiello and presented
by Martin Scorsese), History Channel’s The French Revolution, National Geographic Channel’s Inside the
Taliban, and award-winning anti-nuclear feature documentary Original Child Bomb. She is currently editing
Untitled Breast Cancer Documentary, a feature documentary on the birth of a revolutionary biologic cancer
treatment.
Kamitsuna’s original projects include a feature documentary, Counting the Defeat, about history and politics
of Japanese POW in Siberia during the aftermath of WWII. Her feature screenplays include: Pearl, a mythical
thriller set in the world of Japanese female pearl; Katya, a contemporary Cold War drama based on an actual
disappearance of a Soviet submarine K-129 in 1968; and White Mutation, a bio-genetic thriller based on an
existing genetic mutation.
Kamitsuna is currently preparing to launch her fi rst feature directorial project From Here to Jacqueline, a
true-life drama about a man whose gender crisis changed a life of his fi ancée forever.
