Efficiency and flow With their new location secured, they tapped into Patterson’s complimentary DesignEdge services. Office design expert Michael Reynolds immediately began developing the floor plan.
“Because there were going to be a lot of people coming through this hospital, it was important to get a workflow that allowed everyone to get in, get where they needed to be and get out without backtracking or causing congestion,” said Reynolds. “They were under a time crunch, but I was able to work closely with the doctors and their contractor to get as close to the finished product as possible.”
It took much thought and a few iterations, but Reynolds was able to work with the doctors to develop the ideal floor plan. “His first go at the layout was pretty close, and we only had to tweak small things,” said Shockey. “He knew our goal was to optimize efficiency and flow and the floor plan we ended up with really does that.”
By arranging the 12 exam rooms into a horseshoe shape around the central desk and putting the checkout and retail space in the back of the hospital, Reynolds was able to find the sweet spot for efficiency and flow. >>
