Cimarron Electric Cooperative Sets All Time Electricity Sales This Past Month!

Cimarron members inquired about increased electric bills this past month. Why were the electric bills higher? Did we have a rate increase? I’ll try to answer both questions. The electric bill you re- ceived on February 1st was for the electricity you used from December 20th until January 20th. The average temperature for the month of December was 36.1 degrees. The average temperature for the month of January was 33 degrees. The average temperatures do not include the bitter wind chills. Two days in January had a low temperature of 9 degrees. There were also 2 days in the end of January billing period where it got in the 60’s one day and 70 degrees on the other. There was also 32 days in this billing period.

You can look at your everyday usage, com- pare it to the tempera- tures of that day and even compare this us- age to last years usage on SmartHub.

SmartHub is a program where you can have access to infor- mation about your account online. You can use your com- puter, smartphone or pad to gain all types of information about your account. I’ll tell you how to access SmartHub later. If you think that there is

a problem, other than cold temperatures, call in and talk to customer service and we will try to help you. We ap- preciate the patience of those who called in during these frigid times. We had a very large number of calls this past month. The second question asked

was if we had a rate increase. The answer is no. The last rate increase was back in July of 2014 and it was $5 on the cus- tomer monthly charge. It did not change the cost per kilo- watt hour.

Last month’s electricity sales

were at an all time record high! The good news is that at the time of this newsletter printing, the kilowatt usages are down from last months record sales.
