New CEO For Kiamichi Electric Board announces decision at January board meeting

Brett Orme of Stigler, Okla. enjoyed his first day as CEO of Kiamichi Electric (KEC) on January 25.
Orme comes to KEC from Cookson Hills Electric Cooperative in Stigler, where he served as director of engineering. Responsibilities there included supervising all engineering, automated meter reading and geographic information systems (GIS) employees. He also assisted with distribution planning, system protection and trouble shooting, and handled contracts and budgets within the engineering department.
Orme counts 23 years of professional experience in the electric utility industry. He began his career at Public Service Company where he held positions of division engineer, supervisor of construction and maintenance, and area manager.
In 2001, he began working in the electric cooperative industry and has since devoted his professional skills to the electric co-op program.
Orme earned a master's degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University and a Bachelor of Science

degree in electrical engineering from Oklahoma State University. He also competed a graduate level course in marketing at Cameron University, and a graduate level course in human resources management at Southwestern University in Weatherford.

Orme's further certifications include completion of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association management internship program, and certification as a licensed professional engineer by the State of Oklahoma.
Orme said he is thankful and excited to be working for Kiamichi Electric. "I look forward to working with Kiamichi Electric employees to continue building on the great programs we have going here," Orme said.
Orme replaces Jim Jackson, who resigned as Kiamichi Electric CEO on November 25, 2015.
Orme and his wife, Juli, have two daughters, Hailey and Elizabeth; and one son, Lane.
