original plant close and operations move to Daystate’s new, larger premises in Staffordshire. It became clear that the product line and methods of selling needed a major overhaul; designs that were cutting edge in the 1990s weren’t cutting anything in 2015. Daystate’s design team worked with its new Brocock colleagues to develop a brand new Brocock rifl e – the Compatto which went on to establish the semi- bullpup class of air rifl es. Compact and light, the gun in fact built on a concept developed by Daystate and went as far as an unused prototype.
The success of the Compatto, and other semi-bullpup style rifl es that followed, lay in the fact that the guns were shorter and more compact than rifl es but didn’t have the engineering complexity and weight of a full-on bullpup. The Achilles heel for most bullpups was, and in many cases, continues to be the trigger unit, which requires complex linkage to connect the trigger to the fi ring action. Modern manufacturing techniques, which were simply beyond the reach of the original Brocock company, meant the new design
winning target shooters alike. In 2017 the range was improved further with the addition of a regulator that was the result of an exclusive partnership between sister-company Daystate and Dutch company HUMA-Air. Around the same time, the company’s range was

could be put into production with the benefi ts of lower cost, quicker assembly and improved quality. For the last several years, the Compatto, along with other Brocock models including the Bantam, have built upon the success of the semi- bullpup design and, with improvements to design and manufacturing quality, have quite rightly been regarded as some of the fi nest air rifl es on the market, prized by hunters and award

expanded to include the Commander and Concept-Lite models designed to satisfy the increasing need for tactical designs. These modular rifl es are designed to accept accessories available from Brocock and aftermarket companies. Bringing the Brocock story bang up to date is news that the British Shooting Show will see the launch of a whole new range of rifl es named the XR series which will see the use of a side-lever cocking system across the platform. The new system brings a host of improvements and ties the whole range together as one interchangeable modular system. Orders are being taken now with delivery’s starting late February.
