Stewarts gets Gamakatsu
G
amakatsu products are now exclusively distributed in the UK via Stewarts Angling Services. The move includes hooks, line, rods and Gamakatsu apparel. Mark Murdoch of Stewarts Angling Services told us: “Following recent rumours that some of the Gamakatsu product range were to be discontinued, we are happy to announce that we now have exclusive distribution of all Gamakatsu products. “This includes some popular hook lines, including Gama Blacks and Gama Greens!” T&G understands that the Gamakatsu hooks will now be sold in the UK in the original Gamakatsu packaging.”
ait-Tech Ltd and Donald Cooke Ltd are joining forces. Bait-Tech Ltd, founded by Peter Clapperton, is currently managed by his daughter, Hayley Goldsmith. Donald Cooke Ltd, also a family business, has been running since the early 1900s and has operated within the bait industry since the 1970s. Andrew Cooke, managing
director of Donald Cooke Ltd, said: “The opportunity to work with this great fishing brand, given the synergies and values we both share was a simple decision. “We already work alongside brands like Rod Hutchinson and Stroft, along with the numerous raw materials and services we offer the trade. The opportunities and knowledge provided by this merger of Bait Tech and Donald Cooke will keep improving both our service levels and our products. We are extremely confi dent that this will lead to big things.” Hayley Goldsmith, managing
director of Bait-Tech, added: “It’s a wonderful opportunity for the brand and I am delighted by the prospect
of working with another family business as they appreciate how important it is to have high standards and to care about the team.” The merging of two family-run businesses will create an experienced management team with great core values and the desire and passion to produce and grow the distribution of fi shing products and bait throughout the UK and Europe.

Tacklewave gets IMA distribution D
orset-based specialist distributor Tacklewave Ltd has acquired the distribution rights for Japanese lure brand IMA, in Britain. This adds to its increasingly popular exclusive UK distribution of Major Craft products. IMA is well-known to UK bass anglers - the brand boasts hugely popular models such as the Sasuke, Komomo, Salt Skimmer and Hound Glide to name but a few. Because of the unique way that IMA manufactures – with limited runs just twice a year, forward ordering product is essential to guarantee supply. Tacklewave’s managing director, Mike Fulmer, said: “With the continued growth in this sector we are confi dent that we can grow IMA as we have done Major Craft by holding decent stock levels and regular orders whilst continuing to promote the brand via social media. “We will also look to add
previously untested products to the market which include IMAs trout spinning lures such as the Issen.”

Tacklewave is now entering its
third year of distribution of Major Craft and is also looking to increase its stockist list in strategic locations around the UK whilst continuing to offer bespoke trading areas for those committing to the brands. Having already created a series of custom bass rods with Major Craft, which were designed specifi cally
for the UK market, Tacklewave is keen to continue challenging both brands to produce models and ranges that suit both retailers and the UK lure angler’s needs.
