MARKET REPORT COMPACT PLANT

Latest products Trio from Takeuchi

Takeuchi is introducing three new mini excavators designed and built for the tool and plant hire industries. They include the micro TB210R, which supersedes the popular TB108 that was introduced 15 years ago. The newcomer has a 3-cylinder engine for greater power, and incorporates servo controls with added protection to the hydraulics along the boom. The TB230 is a new 3-tonne machine that replaces the TB228, and which is designed to offer greater

breakout force, with boom and arm holding valves included as standard. A roomier cab is also fitted, and a colour screen displays essential machine information such as fluid levels and temperatures. New also is the TB240, previewed earlier this year, which sees Takeuchi entering the 4-tonne machine class. It has a Tier 4 engine offering a breakout force of 30.8kN and bucket arm force 18.3kN, and the cab includes air conditioning as standard.

Hook-Up Solutions continues to develop its Hooka pick-and-carry crawler for the hire industry, as a machine that is tailored to the handling of hard landscaping materials including bulk bags, brick packs, and pallets. It is 1m wide, has a lift capacity of 1.5 tonnes and can facilitate delivery of items into the heart of smaller sites. The Hooka can also transport and install I-beams, industrial plant, architectural glass and other objects. It reduces double-handling, and waste materials can be stored around site in bulk bags and moved to kerbside at the appropriate time for collection.

Kubota’s compact performer

Kubota’s U27-4 mini excavator in the 2.5-tonne class is a zero-tail swing model. The cab is designed for space and all-round visibility, and it incorporates a wider,

lower entrance to facilitate entry to, and exit from, the machine. The U27-4 provides a maximum digging depth of 2820mm, the manufacture says it appeals particularly to users working in congested urban areas and inside buildings where space is at a premium. The Kubota engine powering the machine is designed to exceed the current emission levels required by European legislation, and to give greater fuel economy.

BAV Crushers’ range of crusher buckets includes the BAV-CB2 model, designed for mini excavators in the 3-tonne to 3.5-tonne weight category, and enabling the host machine to assume the role of a compact tracked crusher. The company says that, while the attachment might not give the same outright production rate, for many contractors generating small amounts of rubble on an intermittent basis, the issue is more one of convenience than absolute output. It also avoids having to hire a skip or tracked crusher for just a few tonnes of rubble. The crusher buckets cost less than a dedicated tracked machine, are transported more easily and take up less space on site.
