Pickerings lightens the load
Pickerings Plant has introduced special load bank testing equipment for use in workshops at its 11 depots throughout the UK, for maintaining generators it hires alongside site accommodation and other equipment. The testers, manufactured by Cressall of Leicester,
are designed to check a generator’s primary components by simulating electrical loads. By stepping up the kilowatts applied on start-up, a machine’s ability to run at full load can be evaluated. Regular testing can also reduce carbon build-up, give more efficient combustion and decrease emissions.
Hireforce nominated for Hire Network Award
The Birmingham depot of Hireforce has been announced as the first shortlisted candidate for the 2016 Hire Network Award, which recognises excellent service at individual depot level. Two other finalists will be chosen before the end of the year, with the winner being announced at the Executive Hire Show. Hire Network MD Barry Dean told EHN that Hireforce had been nominated for its consistently high efficiency in supplying a wide range of equipment throughout the West Midlands. The Birmingham depot was opened in July, complementing the company’s location in Leicester, which was established three years ago.
FLG has lift-off
“When we expanded our range of generators, it was important for us to ensure that customers were getting the very best in terms of service,” explained Mark Chamberlain, MD of Pickerings. “We need to know the generators are capable of taking the desired loads, while operating efficiently and to regulatory standards. Cressall also trained our staff in using the equipment.”
Lifting equipment hire specialist, FLG Services, which is a division of A-Plant, has added new machines from the manufacturer, Linde, to its fleet. These include the L12 pedestrian pallet stacker, which has a capacity of 1200kg, and the T20 electric pallet truck which can lift loads of up to 2000kg. Director Jeff Hudson said, “These machines offer optimum efficiency, safety and flexibility to meet the needs of our diverse customer base, from construction sites to warehousing staff. We have also purchased diagnostic software, allowing us to offer our clients a rapid response to any faults on-site.”
