Latest products AJC proves popular

AJC Trailers, which manufactures the EasyCabin range of mobile and static welfare units, says it has received a spate of orders from hirers for its eco12 Junior, which has been developed to give environmentally-friendly operation.

The towable unit is designed

to produce fewer emissions, reduce generator usage, lower fuel costs and decrease noise pollution. Maintenance intervals have also been increased, meaning it can be run for longer periods between servicing, according to the company.

The eco12 Junior can accommodate up to six people. It has energy-saving LED lighting and a diesel heating system, which means that the on-board generator is only required to power 240V appliances or to re-charge the batteries. A monitoring system signals to the generator when charging is necessary, for optimal operation. Nixon Hire operates a fleet of eco12 Juniors. MD Graham Nixon said, “Its eco-friendly qualities are key to its popularity with our customers, as it positively contributes towards an environmental audit, and its economical operation goes a long way in saving bottom line costs. The unit is also very reliable and easy to maintain. Our intention is to grow our fleet in line with customer demand.”

Garic’s Combi-Eco Series Plus welfare unit is designed to reduce running costs and emissions by doing away with the need for a

generator. Instead, all of the power needed is drawn from eight solar panels housed on the cabin’s roof.

The unit can accommodate up to seven people, and

provides a canteen, office, a WC with a toilet and shower, and a drying area. It also has USB and 12V power sockets and Wi-Fi capability as standard. Infra-red sensors in the canteen and WC areas are fitted so that the water supply and lighting equipment are only in use when workers are using the unit, to save energy. The manufacturer says that trials it has conducted on construction sites suggested that the Eco Series Plus could save up to 88% in fuel costs compared to a standard 240V generator-powered Combi-Cabin model, with a similar reduction in CO2 emissions.

Energy-saving Genquip addition

Genquip reports that more companies are now asking for high-end welfare units that not only meet on-site Health & Safety requirements, but also offer cost savings by way of carbon reductions, and lower levels of generator and water usage. In many cases, they also look for equipment with an appropriate EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) rating, particularly in situations where contractors are submitting tenders highlighting emission reductions. Complementing its SW6100 and SWO7600 static range, Genquip has just launched the SWO9700 new version, which includes several eco-friendly characteristics. These include a low-flush toilet, waterless urinal, a low- energy heating and hot water system, and a B-rated EPC. The company says that, as well as reducing carbon emissions, the unit offers substantial savings on fuel and servicing

costs, as the generator is only required to run periodically. Genquip recently invested over £2m on new machinery and has increased the size of the factory to expand production.
