COOLERS AND CONDENSERS
However, when we work with customers who have a contingency plan in place this process can be much quicker, as they already know the equipment needed. In addition, any modifications to pipework or tie-in points to their system will already have been undertaken, preventing delays at such a critical time.
Consider alternatives
The only viable alternative to renting cooling equipment is to find another warehouse already set up with refrigeration equipment, and then transport stock to it in trucks – a time- consuming option that is also expensive to arrange and a logistical nightmare. Temporary cooling can be installed at around a fifth or a quarter of the cost of doing this, as well as removing the hassle and headaches inevitably caused by the difficulties associated with transportation.
This year alone we have done many jobs for storage and distribution companies that have involved millions of pounds worth of stock. If we hadn’t been there to help keep the stock refrigerated, there would have been devastating
consequences. Our equipment saves money in two ways.
First, it prevents damage to stock which, if spoiled, must be thrown away. Secondly, customers save money because they are not forced to spend on logistical support, transport, a new warehouse, a second source of refrigeration, and so on.
The rental cooling equipment we provide is not only employed in catastrophic failure situations, it can also open up the opportunity to expand capacity by supplementing a warehouse’s existing cooling system.
This prevents overburdening existing cooling equipment and enables businesses to ramp up productivity to meet spikes in demand. This
might be necessary over warmer summer periods when incumbent plant may struggle to meet the required temperatures.
It might also help the warehouse operator to expand the storage area to accommodate more products to meet peak seasonal demands, say in the period running up to Christmas. With rental equipment, we can even turn a basic warehouse or temporary structure into a cold store for these types of situations.
Whether you are preparing contingencies for a potential catastrophic breakdown or you need more capacity for any other reason – the overarching message is plan, plan and plan again. It may never happen, but it’s better to be prepared than sorry after the event.
Five benefits of renting
■ Quick and easy to install ■ No need to tie into building’s condenser system ■ Available with all ancillaries, including pumps and hoses for a complete system ■ Many sizes available for flexibility, with ability to chill down to -45 C ■ Modular units can be combined to allow multi-megawatt solutions
