Desperately seeking
engagement T
his month sees our annual ACR News Awards taking place on the 23rd. It’s the longest running awards event of its kind, and with over twenty years under our belt we still keep trying to blaze those trails. This is the fi rst year that we’ve really invested in putting categories out to the public vote, and it was a risk. If I’m brutally honest, I didn’t think the industry would buy in to the concept, given that it traditionally doesn’t like change. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The industry – not only in the UK – has risen magnifi cently to the challenge with hundreds of votes coming in from all over the world. We’ve had a lot of comments and feedback on our decision to involve the industry at large, and they have been overwhelmingly positive.
The overriding message that has come through all of it though, is one of desperation. The wider acr industry doesn’t always feel involved, but desperately wants to be, only needing the right opportunities.
There are already plenty of opportunities to get involved with institutions and associations for example, and at ACR News we will continue to evolve our own eff orts to meet that need as well.
