COMPANY PROFILE
Nualight lights up the market
Founded in 2005 in Cork, Ireland, Nualight is a specialist European LED lighting company selling predominately refrigeration lighting into the world’s leading grocery retailers, refrigeration display case manufacturers, specialist refrigeration wholesalers and distributors.
B
ack in 2005, LED or light emitting diodes were a relatively new and unknown technology. Traditional lighting companies with their heavy manufacturing footprints were slow to take on the challenge and it was the young progressive start-ups like Nualight that pioneered the use of LED within the refrigeration market and lighting as a whole.
Nualight foresaw the game changing abilities of this new technology and much of the company’s early focus was on bringing major lighting programmes to the world’s leading supermarket chains and case manufacturers. The venture into LED and refrigeration was quickly cemented with
the company’s Vantium range – one of the first ranges designed by Nualight winning both awards and followers across the globe as it was the only range available that was engineered exclusively for the refrigerated display case market. For over a decade Nualight has led the way for LED display case lighting, combining both the technology benefits with patented optical and product design to create vibrant and attractive displays. Nualight not only helped retailers to save energy with efficient installations but it also helped to enhance the customers’ shopping experience and add to the overall ambience of the store. To this day, Nualight remains Sainsbury’s
lighting partner for all of the refrigerated and freezer display cases across their estate. Nualight’s commitment to the sector can be seen not only throughout the past but with its plans for the future.
“Over the last 12 months, Nualight has completed a review of its business activities and decided to refocus on our core strengths. As a result we have pulled back from certain segments in order to invest our R&D, sales and marketing expertise in those areas, the primary area being refrigerated display cases.“ explains chief executive Peter Mazalon.
“We had two very clear objectives, the first objective is to continue to lead the LED refrigeration lighting market with an industry leading portfolio. The second objective being to place Nualight in an advantageous position to service its global customers exceptionally and in a sustainable manner going forward.” The result of the first objective can be seen in a much leaner, competitive and revitalised solutions portfolio. The portfolio contains a tiered offering ranging from Arctic, a LED tube suitable for retrofits to Orion, the industry leading range with efficacies up to 120lm/w to Perfino, the established best in class high colour rendering solution.
“We are starting to see the positive effects of these changes with the recent feedback we have had from our long standing partnerships with key retailers. Our delivery and service levels have
