What Should We Know about Dental Lasers when Dealing with Periodontitis and Peri-Implantitis? Hom-Lay Wang, DDS, MSD, PhD
This presentation addresses the foundation of dental lasers. The participant will learn how to use dental lasers as an adjunct tool in the management of chronic periodontitis and peri-implantitis.
Educational objectives: 1. Learn how to better use dental lasers in your daily periodontal practice, and 2. Understand current evidence with regards to lasers for the treatment of periodontitis and peri-implantitis.

A Retrospective of Clinical Success with the LANAP Protocol Over the Last Five Years Lawrence B. Gelb, DDS, FICD
Surgery, both medical and dental, has been moving toward minimally invasive procedures. In March 2016, the Periolase received the world’s first ever FDA clearance for “True Regeneration” based on solid histological evidence when specifically used in the LANAP Protocol. The LANAP Protocol offers an alternative to conventional periodontal surgery, free of post-surgical morbidity and soft tissue disfigurement, resulting in greater case acceptance. But how receptive are we to change? Numerous well-documented cases treated over more than 5 years will be presented. Objectives: 1. Understand the LANAP Protocol; 2. Learn the biological basis for success with the LANAP Protocol; 3. Realize LANAP’s place in the pantheon of periodontal procedures; 4. Show numerous well documented cases of treated teeth and dental implants; 5. Discuss how change is a constant in our profession and appreciate the dynamic of change; and 6. Improve dental treatment planning with evidence based data.

Dental implant System that is Simple and Predictable: Every Extraction Site is an Immediate Implant Site
Leon Chen, DMD, MS
Immediate implant placement has been around for more than 24 years, yet it still has as many pitfalls as benefits. So, we have designed an implant system that will overcome the issues of immediate implant placement while simplifying the steps so it can be more freely accepted into mainstream dentistry. The One Drill implant system will be the focus of this lecture. We will also introduce immediate implant placement in the sinus using the osteotome sinus implant; a first of its kind.

Designing and Engineering to Optimize Soft and Hard Tissue Outcomes
Eric Rompen, DDS, PhD
It is known that long-term clinical success of implants depends on a series of factors that range from implant design, bone volume, muco-gingival surgery, prosthetic methods, and biocompatibility of materials. In addition to bone integration, an effective adhesion of the soft tissues is mandatory to seal the body envelope, avoiding bacterial penetration and bone loss. During this session Dr. Rompen aims to classify those factors, provide surgical techniques for bone and soft tissue management, and propose practical solutions to obtain an effective and stable muco-integration.
To obtain muco-integration, it is only required to use biocompatible and clean materials at the trans-mucosal level. To preserve it, the mechanical stability of the soft tissues has to be promoted, and care should be taken to choose non- traumatic prosthetic procedures. Dr. Rompen will also provide participants an overview on how to achieve and maintain an effective muco-integration with a new treatment concept.
