50 Day. Romano. Also known as ‘Dragon Langerie’ or ‘Merveille de Piemonte’. Tasty, high-yielding variety, perfect for the novice gardener. When the 8" flat pods change from greenish yellow to yellow with purple stripes, pick them as a snap bean. When the stripes change from purple to red, pick as a shell bean. Stripes disappear completely during blanching, indicating freezer readiness.

Hilda Dragon Tongue Gina BROAD BEAN CULTURE


Also known as fava beans, the broad bean is a cool season crop that will not set pods when temperatures climb above 70°F. It is essential to get seeds in the ground as soon as soil can be worked in the spring. Plant 1" deep 4-5" apart in rows 18-30" apart. Use our Easy Seeder on page 4 for best results and perfect spacing every time. Packets contain 2 ounces unless otherwise stated.

85 Day. Fava or Broad Bean. Cool weather bean, which can be planted as soon as the soil can be worked. Plants are true bush form and heavy yielders. Glossy, green 7" pods contain 5-7 large, oblong, light-green beans. Pick at 2-3" to eat like snap beans or use as a tasty shell bean. Very sweet flavor similar to a pea. Edible young leaves may be added to salads as a nutritional spring green. ½ lb. plants a 15' row. Does not grow well in hot weather.

60 Day. Romano. Nothing beats the flavor of these deep green, stringless beans. Te plants exhibit good heat and disease resistance, and produce incredibly large quantities of flat-podded, 10-12" beans. Vigorous vines require a trellis or bean tower for best results. (See Bean Tower on page 3).

54 Day. Romano. A bush version of the popular Italian pole bean. Pods are 5-6" long, thick, flat, medium green and stringless. Bushy 18" plants are very produc- tive with flat-podded beans.
