WELCOME TO VERMONT BEAN SEED COMPANY Spring 2017 Catalog
Dear Gardening Friend,
Welcome to our 2017 Vermont Bean Seed catalog! Tis edition marks our 43rd year of supplying you with quality vegetable seeds, plants and supplies.
We’ve had a busy year in our trial gardens, testing out new seed ma- terial in order to see how well it performs, first hand. We’ve found some wonderful new varieties as a result! Check out Hero Green Bush Bean (p.4). It is nearly immune to the common ailments of bush beans and is lighter in color, making harvest a breeze. Also, be sure to take a look at Candysnax Hybrid Carrot (p.16), delicious and chock full of beta carotene. Don’t forget to look for Mini Love Hybrid Watermelon (p.33), a compact, sweet treat and an AAS Win- ner! Look for the
NEW symbol throughout the catalog in order to read about all of our new and exciting discoveries.
Choose from our wide selection of fruits, vegetables and herbs–some you won’t find anywhere else! With some of the best varieties in the world to choose from, we’re confident you’ll find something special for your garden.
Again, thank you for your past and continued support that helps to make Vermont Bean Seed a success.
HERE'S TO A BOUNTIFUL GARDEN IN 2017! FROM ALL OF US AT THE VERMONT BEAN SEED COMPANY

SEEDS Seed Tapes
Seed Tapes are a great way to get the most out of your garden seed. Te specially designed tissue paper has seed embedded right into them for perfect depth and spacing every time. Simply make a shallow furrow in your garden, place the seed tape in the furrow and cover with a little soil, peat moss, or compost, then water. Make sure to thoroughly water your seed tapes so the tissue paper can disintegrate properly as the seed is germinating. Te tapes are used on small seeded vegetables such as carrots, radishes, and beets to ensure consistency and uniformity. If you’ve had poor luck with small-seeded veggies in the past, try seed tapes! Below is a list of this year’s offerings and on which page to find them.

live plant material, including tubers and bulbs, to the following states: AK, AZ, CA, ID, OR, HI, or WA.
Look for our ‘live plant’ symbol throughout this year’s catalog. We are working on expanding what we have to offer for starter plants and we hope you will appreciate the selection we’ve chosen.
