GARLIC CULTURE
Garlic can be planted in either spring or fall. It is most commonly plant- ed in the fall and should be lightly mulched in colder climates. In either case the bulbs should be separated into individual cloves and planted 5" apart in well-prepared and well-drained soil in a sunny location. Plant the cloves so that the tips are 2" beneath the surface.
When bulbs are planted in the fall, roots are established early allowing plants to grow faster and they can be harvested the following sum- mer
spring will need the full season of growth and possibly another year in the ground to get to their fully mature size. In extremely cold climates, spring planting is recommended.
