Government backs Make UK move to kickstart next generation of talent
The Government has given its backing to efforts byMake UK to help the next generation of talent by boosting take up of the Kickstart scheme bymanufacturing employers.
Make UK hasmade strenuous efforts over the last year to help hundreds young people affected by the pandemic and is a strong supporter of the Kickstart scheme to help develop vital skills, and potential career in UKmanufacturing.
TodayMake UK hosted awebinar whereMims DaviesMP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Employment was joined at the Kickstart Your Future Makers event byMake UK's Skills Policy Expert, Bhavina Bharkhada. Theywere joined by Lister, a family business specialising in providing engineering supplies andwho are already benefitting fromthe scheme.
Kickstart provides funding to employers to
create job placements for 16- 24-year-olds on Universal Credit. Employers of all sizes can apply for fundingwhich covers 100%of the NationalMinimumWage for 25 hours perweek for a total of sixmonths. The scheme also covers employer NI contributions and employerminimum automatic enrolment contributions.
The scheme has already createdmore than 150,000 jobs since it launched and provides opportunitieswhichwill boost the career prospects of young people, giving them the skills and experience to stay in longer termemployment.
Businesses no longer need a gateway but Make UK’s Technology Centre is able to supportwith administration and offers trainingwith otherwrap around support. More information can be found here: Kickstart |Make UK

REHAU ‘smartens’ up London Hub for re-opening
As part of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown, on 12th April 2021, REHAUwill be re-opening its central London Hub located at The Building Centrewith a renewed focus on smart technology and its influence on sustainability.

REHAU is encouraging professionals to visit the newand improved spacewhile taking advantage of the Building Centre’s popular café and alfresco dining space for face-to-face networkingwithin government guidelines.
