FdA Fine Art

Foundation Degree Awarding Body: Plymouth University

Realise your artistic potential. Guided by practising artists, you will find the freedom to try different techniques and technologies. By analysing artistic influences and inspirations, you’ll deepen your understanding of what makes great art and gain the skills to create it.

The course is designed and focused on finding your creative voice. In the first year, we develop a working methodology; a series of reflections on your work that really help evaluate and make the best of your ideas. The second year is much more about you working as an emerging artist developing your practice and theories. Assessments at this stage are more pauses to reflect.

Briefs given or devised by you encourage you to look at many ways of working, together with developing themes that you may wish to explore through fine art. Underpinning this practical work, we look at theories relating to 20th and 21st Century fine art and explore a breadth of professional guidelines designed to help you function as an artist in the wider world, including working in the public domain.
