with Computing Foundation Degree Awarding Body: Plymouth University
This course combines the disciplines of both business and computing and is designed to teach you how to apply the fundamental concepts of business computer systems, and appreciate the relationship between the knowledge and understanding of business computing theory. You will also develop the ability to critically evaluate solutions to business and computing related problems, and understand the need for creativity during the design of business computing solutions.
Modules include Web Design and Development, Human Computer Interaction, Systems Analysis, Managing Human Resources, Business Communication Skills, Business Enterprise, Business Finance, Marketing Fundamentals and e-Commerce. A distinctive feature of the course is that it is based on Agile principles - current industry ‘best practice’ project management theory.
Throughout the course, you will learn how to apply the fundamental concepts of business computer systems, appreciate the relationship between the knowledge and understanding of business computing theory, critically evaluate solutions to business and computing related problems and appreciate and understand the need for creativity during the design of business computing solutions.
Progression
Students who successfully complete the FdA Business Computing may be able to progress to the BA (Hons) Business at Plymouth University or the BA (Hons) Professional Development (Business) at Petroc1

Do you want to create truly unforgettable events? Our hands-on Foundation Degree – developed with industry – gives you the insight, know-how and skills to become a critical, creative events professional.
Developing employability skills is a key aspect to this course. You will undertake a variety of live activities and excellent work experience. You will have the opportunity to plan and manage your own team event as part of professional practice and also participate in the implementation of events such as Oceanfest.
Throughout the course, you will study a wide range of modules, including Hospitality for Events, which gives you the opportunity to plan and implement a grouped themed event and design hospitality packages, and Financial Planning, which looks at various financial techniques, including sponsorship opportunities.
Progression
Upon successful completion, students may be able to apply to BSc (Hons) Events Management or BA (Hons) Hospitality, Tourism & Events Management top-up degree at Plymouth University1
