NUMMER 09 I 7 DECEMBER
Eddy-tug Telstar by Holland Shipyards hits the waters
Eddy, an Efficiency Double-ended Dynamic, designed by Holland Shipyards is a hybrid tug boat which can go in both directions (front and back), leading to more orders from others. Eddy-tug Telstar is a great example of one. Iskes Towage & Salvage rented this type of ship before from Holland Shipyards and then decided to buy one which was especially designed for them with their cooperation. It used the existing knowledge at Holland Shipyards alongside the clients’ expertise based on the operational effort required to make it happen. The ship is 6 meters shorter than the ‘1’, but has the same weight and more power. It was built at
Holland Shipyards. The Telstar, named aſter the soccer team from Velsen Zuid which Iskes sponsors can run on diesel and electricity entirely, with a pulling power of 30 tons. When it needs more than its existing power, Koedood Diesel- service Ltd supplies the two Mitsubishis to make that happen, using a diesel direct drive. Veth propulsion is responsible for its propulsion. Holland Shipyards built the ship in seven months.
