 Construction Consolidation Sites – nine in total mostly on brownfield sites up to 10ha in total.

 Removal of the haul road and reinstatement of land and features along 37km of the onshore cable route.

344. The onshore cable route is approximately 75m in width except at the HDD locations where it is wider to allow for lay down areas for the HDD kit. Within the onshore cable route a working width of 55m will be required. Within this working width there will be space for haul road, temporary laydown areas, jointing pits and temporary spoil storage.

5.6.4.1 Pre-construction Works 345. Pre-construction activities would include the following:

 Topographic surveys (for engineering purposes);  Ecological pre-construction work (including, for instance, hedgerow removal);  Archaeological pre-construction work;  Drainage surveys;  Geotechnical and ground stability surveys; and  Pre-entry records and requirements.

346. The information from such surveys would form the basis for agreement on final reinstatement of the land after construction.

5.6.4.1.1 Boundaries 347. Temporary fences would be erected along the boundaries of the working width. The type of fencing to be used would be determined through consultation with the landowner or occupier. Gates and stiles would be incorporated as appropriate (for example, where farm access would be maintained).

348. High visibility fencing would be installed to denote infrastructure crossings (such as gas pipelines or overhead power lines).

349. Within the corridor and wherever practicable EATL would minimise the number of trees to be felled and only trees that have been specifically identified would be removed. Similarly, hedgerows would only be removed where absolutely necessary for the construction of the cable route and only where prior agreement has been obtained. A reduced working width of 35m is proposed at hedgerows classified as
